On The Afterlife

Graduation date is officially set for August 09. Two more semesters and I'm done. So then what the hell do I do? I've given some thought to doing Teach for America, but from what I've seen it's a summer training and then you start teaching in the fall. So I'd have to wait another 9 months before doing that. I'm also considering the Peace Corps... but it seems like such a long committment to be in a poor place. It seems like it'd be a real setback to being established. A great experience, yes. But it would be pushing back the world for another two years, and then what? It'll be this same situation again.

I'm actually giving some thought to grad school. It's probably not the best idea, because I'm getting bored with school and it just doesn't have any further meaning to it. I think it'd be great to have a phD and teach college, but I don't want to invest years more to get there. It's still a reasonable option, if I could get a fully paid trip to a good school. I think I'll take the GRE just to see what the options look like.

my opinion: grad school sucks! and is just another way to ignore the real world (same as peace corps)

Yea Teach for America! It's super, super hard though. Obviously I am biased towards it though since I still teach in a TFA school. I kind of think that you would enjoy the peace corps.
